Happy Data Privacy Day 2024! Take control of your data
26 January 2024
Ahead of Data Privacy Day this coming Sunday, we reflect on our ongoing work in this area as part of our portfolio of annual conferences.
The 28th January marks the celebration of Data Privacy Day across the world, an occasion dedicated to raising awareness of the importance of safeguarding personal information. It also serves as a chance to encourage individuals and organisations to actively participate in securing and regaining control over their data.
At Forum Europe and Forum Global, we explore these key topics throughout the year across our programme of high-level Data Protection and Privacy events, creating platforms for leading global policymakers, industry players and high-level privacy experts to gather and share their thoughts on the most pressing issues in the data privacy landscape.
Our two annual headline events in this area, namely the European Data Protection & Privacy Conference, and the Data Privacy Conference USA, will reach their 6th and 14th editions respectively in 2024.
At the most recent edition of the Data Privacy Conference USA held in Washington D.C, we welcomed over 180 participants, who heard from Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers, Senator Marsha Blackburn, and the Chief Privacy Officer of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Mason Clutter, amongst many other speakers. Key topics of conversation included the US data privacy and security legislative landscape; encouraging the interoperability of data governance systems globally to enable cross-border data flows; reaching effective data privacy protection to build trust and confidence in AI; protecting children’s privacy and online safety, and data privacy in healthcare. The highlight video for this event can be viewed here.
In Brussels, the 2023 European Data Protection & Privacy Conference brought together over 170 delegates from across 17 countries. Commissioner Didier Reynders and Belgium’s Secretary of State for Digitization Mathieu Michel kick-started the day with their respective keynote speeches setting the tone for the rest of the programme which explored the following topics: the GDPR five years on – what has been achieved and what do the next five years look like?; navigating the global data privacy landscape and promoting data flows; promoting privacy innovation to unleash the power of data; and privacy in the AI era. The wrap-up video for this event can be found here.
We are looking forward to hosting the subsequent editions of these events in 2024. If you’d like to get involved, please reach out to firstname.lastname@example.org
