In recent years, the EU has launched several initiatives to harness its research and innovation (R&I) efforts in quantum, aiming to strengthen its position as a global leader in quantum technologies, aligned with the goals of the EU’s Digital Decade strategy. This emerging technology holds the potential to drive transformative growth and innovation across a range of industries. At the start of a new institutional cycle, the inaugural Quantum Europe Conference will focus on what is needed to build a vibrant European ecosystem for quantum computing. The conference will explore strategies to enhance the region’s competitiveness and cement Europe’s leadership in quantum excellence and innovation.

19 November | The European Sustainable Chemicals Conference

The European Union has been increasingly focusing on sustainability, with chemicals being central to many industries but also posing risks due to their potential toxicity and long-term environmental impacts. Establishing a sustainable chemicals policy aligns with broader goals like climate neutrality, green transitions, and promoting public well-being. Our Sustainable Chemicals conference will discuss the role that sustainable chemicals policy can play in achieving Europe's long-term goals for health, environment, and economic growth, as underscored by President von der Leyen's mission letters, her ambitions for a ‘Clean Industrial Deal’ and the Draghi report's call for a strategic transformation.

5 December | The International AI Summit 2024

Following the success of last year’s edition and against the backdrop of significant political and legislative developments in Europe and the US and following the outcome of the recent UN’s Summit of the Future, the International Artificial Intelligence Summit 2024 will take place in Brussels and will once again bring together prominent figures in AI policy, governance, and technology to explore the latest advancements in AI development and policy.

Discussions will focus on how European and global AI governance cooperation is evolving, what the emerging governance structures look like, and examine whether adequate attention is being given to ensuring AI is democratised, accessible and equitable. The summit will address the prospects for AI-driven innovation, particularly in the context of the Draghi report, to enhance competitiveness, productivity, and growth across Europe and around the world.
