Over 200 participants joined the most timely data privacy issues at the 12th European Data Protection & Privacy Conference

Forum Europe’s European Data Protection & Privacy Conference returned to Brussels for its 12th edition with over 200 participants joining us to discuss the main data privacy issues that have arisen lately in the context of an ever-evolving tech policy landscape.

We had the honour to hear from European Commissioner for Justice Didier Reynders and Grant Harris, Assistant Secretary Grant Harris from the International Trade Administration at U.S. Department of Commerce on a number of initiatives related to Data, Artificial Intelligence and the future of EU-US data flows.

Other experts speakers, including Aleid Wolfsen, Deputy Chair of the EDPB; Joe Jones, Deputy Director - International Data Transfers at the UK DCMS; Karolina Mojzesowicz, Deputy Head of Unit Data Protection & Bruno Gencarelli, Deputy to the Director for Fundamental Rights and the Rule of Law, within DG JUST, European Commission; Brando Benifei, MEP; Teresa Martínez Sánchez, Head of the Innovation Area at the Spanish Data Protection Authority, held insightful discussions with industry players, member states and civil society representatives on the interplay between the GDPR and the new wave of tech regulations in Europe, data privacy in the context of AI, the implications of the upcoming EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and the UK’s Protection and Digital Information Bill. Finally, the event looked at the role that future-proofing principles and PETs can play as new and future technologies, digital services and concepts emerge.
