National Recovery & Resilience Plans Series - Greening and Digitizing the next phase of the EU recovery | 6 October 2022 (Online)

This episode of the HPE & Forum Europe RRF series turned its attention to the issue of sustainability, more specifically the overlap between sustainability and digitisation. In Q3 the Commission presented its implementing report on the RRF. Given that this report includes an assessment on whether Member States are meeting the requirement that a minimum of 20% of expenditure is dedicated to digital and another 37% to green transition objectives, this event provided an opportunity to demonstrate how digital investments can also be green investments.

TARGET ZERO: Routes to a toxic-free Europe without animal testing | 27 October 2022 (Online)

Polling carried out in 2020 showed that nearly three quarters (72%) of adults in EU member states agree that the EU should set binding targets and deadlines to phase out testing on animals. Yet worryingly, changes to key EU chemicals legislation under the CSS look set to trigger a huge increase in animal testing with questionable chances of success for better protection for human health and the environment. This Cruelty Free Europe webinar set out to bring different sectors together to show how we can plot a route to a toxic-free environment using animal-free testing and research.

Speaker presentations from the event are accessible here.

EU-UK Forum: Re-thinking the EU’s neighbourhood | 10 November 2022 (Online)

Following the European Council’s June decision to grant Ukraine and Moldova candidate status and the European Commission’s October recommendation that Bosnia and Herzegovina be granted the same, a growing number of European countries are now on the accession track or, like Georgia and Kosovo, waiting in the wings. At the same time, the EU’s difficult relations with the likes of Switzerland, Türkiye and the United Kingdom continue, as do rule of law issues with current Member States. In the light of all this, a panel of distinguished experts on the enlargement process and such emerging concepts as staged accession and the European Political Community examined how the EU could or should be re-thinking its neighbourhood.

The 7th Public Sector Transformation Conference | 29 November 2022 (Online)

The case for the digitalisation of the public sector is more relevant than ever. Evidently, maximising the value of the data generated in the public and private sector will be critical to standing up to the challenges ahead. Against this backdrop, the 7th edition of Hewlett Packard Enterprise’s Public Sector Transformation Conference explored the importance of trust, data sovereignty, and increased interoperability and data sharing across the EU for the benefit of citizens, businesses, and the public sector.

With operators, vendors and governments all around the world now engaged in regional 6G research initiatives, this conference explored the visions, roadmaps and related activities that are emerging.
