Tech Policy Talks returned on 22 Nov

On 22 November 2021, the Tech Policy Talks returned with its 6th session entitled ‘Unlocking 5G’s Potential in Africa’. This was the first time that the Tech Policy Talks focused on the Sub-Sahara region, following the successful establishment of the series in Europe, where we have welcomed top-level speakers, including Mariya Gabriel, Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, European Commission; Olivier Guersent, Director General, DG Competition, European Commission; Philippe Léglise-Costa, French Ambassador to the EU; Stéphanie Yon-Courtin, Member, European Parliament; Cristian-Silviu Busoi, Member and Chair of ITRE Committee, European Parliament, to name just a few.
This session continued to bring together key policy and business voices and a high-level speaker panel to look at how an enabling environment for deployment of 5G can be advanced by working cooperatively. Discussions focused on the way forward to deliver a coordinated 5G strategy that is designed to meet the unique challenges and opportunities that 5G offers to the developing economies of Africa.
