President Charles Michel and President Ursula von der Leyen speak at Masters of Digital 2021
10 February 2021
DIGITALEUROPE's flagship event Masters of Digital took place on 3-4 February for the first time virtually! In partnership with Forum Europe, the event attracted around 3,000 registrations from 88 countries, who logged on to watch keynotes from President Ursula von der Leyen, President Charles Michel, US Ambassador Stavros Lambrinidis, Commissioner Gabriel, Spanish Minister Nadia Calviño and many others.
Spread over two days, the event looked at the most pressing digital issues, including the digital road to recovery, the future of industry, public and private data sharing, digital skills, green and sustainability in Europe, public sector transformation and advanced healthcare in the EU. To catch up on any of the sessions, you can watch replays here or watch a summary below:
Two awards were also won at the event. For the first time the Master of Digital Award was given out, which was won by Spanish Minister Nadia Calviño due to Spain's trailblazing digital strategy and her exceptional commitment to the digital recovery and a stronger digital Europe. The Future Unicorn Award was awarded to Oncompass Medicine, a start up that has created an innovative AI based medical software for targeted cancer therapy.
Amongst the discussions, attendees had the chance to use the platform which was provided by Forum Europe, to network, set up private meetings and browse through various exhibition booths. See more detail on the assistance we provided here.
Although the format was different this year, attendees continued to enjoy the event:
'The virtual summit was really very well structured and organized, top level great speakers, wide range of topics, strategies & best practices, expos, opportunity to interact! Really well done! For me it was a great opportunity to get the bigger picture, challenges & solutions from the first hand.'
'It was a great and inspiring event with so many excellent speakers including Ms. Ursula von der Leyen delivering an impressive speech. It was a first virtual event which I have ever attended. It was so successfully accomplished. ... [the] expo section was really very impressive. Many thanks for the DE team and the technical staff which made this event to happen so successfully.'
We thoroughly enjoyed working with DIGITALEUROPE on this event, and look forward to continuing our partnership in to 2021. Chris Ruff, Director for Political Outreach and Communications at DIGITALEUROPE said:
"The Forum Europe team were an essential part in making Masters of Digital 2021 our biggest and most successful conference yet. They are model professionals, working with speed and efficiency as well as calmness under pressure and good humour. The virtual platform and all the technical aspects worked perfectly, and their knowledge and input was also extremely useful in finding great speakers and moderators in the weeks leading up to the event."
Thank you to all of the speakers, sponsors, partners and attendees for their support in making Masters of Digital 2021 a success. You can view the conversation on twitter here.
