Europe’s Data Strategy - Driving Data Sharing and Collaboration Opportunities in Europe

7 July 2020

Following the February debate on the newly released EU Data Strategy, Microsoft with the collaboration of Forum Europe, organised on 2 July the second discussion on data sharing and collaboration opportunities in Europe. In the wake of the Covid-19 outbreak and following the close of the public consultation on the strategy, over 250 stakeholders from the policy, business and data communities gathered, this time online, to re-energise the debate on data access and the sharing opportunities that exist in Europe, and to look at concrete examples of what successful data collaboration can look like.

Opening the EU Data Strategy discussion was Casper Klynge, Vice President for European Government Affairs at Microsoft Europe, followed by a panel discussion with Malte Beyer-Katzenberger from the European Commission, Eva Maydell, Member of the European Parliament, Jule Sigall from Microsoft and Jeni Tennison, Vice President and Chief Strategy Adviser of the Open Data Institute. The debate on data access and sharing opportunities was moderated by Jeremy Rollison, Senior Director, EU Government Affairs of Microsoft Europe, and included an interactive discussion with the audience.
