European Cyber Security Summer Hub launches this month

2 June 2020

The European Cyber Security Summer Hub, in partnership with ECSO, will take place next week over two days, on the 10th and 11th June 2020. This Cyber Security Hub is a participatory online debate focusing on European and global cyber security policy. The aim is to kick-start the conversation around Europe’s security union and its cyber security policy, and more broadly around the role cyber will play in Europe’s drive for greater digital sovereignty.

The key themes on the first day (10th June) will mainly revolve within the European context such as SMEs digital solutions, cyber ranges, European Industrial Strategy in securing the digital economy, 5G toolbox implementation and the new security strategy for the EU. Discussions on the second day (11th June) however will be on a broader context such as the role of cyber security in the Post-Covid-19 crisis recovery phase, achieving EU digital sovereignty and the future of the cyber security industry in the areas of certification and standards.

We are pleased to announce that this event will be opened by Margrethe Vestager, Executive Vice-President for ‘A Europe Fit for the Digital Age’ and Despina Spanou, Head of Cabinet for Vice President Margaritis Schinas, from the European Commission. Other distinguished speakers include Andreas Könen, Director-General of Cyber and Information Security from the German Federal Ministry of the Interior, Building and Community (BMI), Wiktor Staniecki, Head of Cyber Sector from the European External Action Service, and Juhan Lepassaar, Executive Director of ENISA just to name a few.
