Hybrid Event Summary
The European Child Safety Online Conference 2022 took place on 30 June in Brussels and was streamed onto our online platform for virtual delegates to follow the proceedings.
It gathered over 300 participants, including policymakers, industry players, and national authorities representatives, as well as civil society experts and child rights advocates to review the provisions of the new European strategy for a Better Internet for Kids (BIK+) and of the proposal for the new regulation to prevent and combat child sexual abuse, released in May 2022.
It discussed the extent to which the initiatives proposed are fit-for-purpose and are likely to remain future-proof to address the pace of digital innovation. It explored how the proposed rules will interact with other EU and global policies and self-regulation initiatives aimed at tackling the different online risks that children are exposed to, and at making the online world a better, safer, fairer place.
