The 2nd European B+ Summit

After the success of its first edition in 2023, the European B+ Summit returned for full 2 days on 1-2 October 2025 to Austria, Vienna.

The conference has attracted government representatives, policy makers and stakeholders from all over the world to gain insights and join the discussion on the progress of large-scale decarbonisation of Heavy-Duty Vehicles through higher biodiesel (HVO & FAME) blends.

Over the 2 conference days, we had the chance to see 2 keynotes, 9 presentations and 7 panel discussions fuelling the conversation between policymakers, key stakeholders, delegates and attendees on the use of sustainable fuels, higher biodiesel blends and decarbonisation.

Csaba Mozes (Hungarian Government), Xavier Noyon (European Biodiesel Board, EBB) and Angel Alvarez Alberti (EWABA) discussed ‘Higher Blends in the EU Framework’ in a panel led by Giulia Squadrin (Argus), exploring whether current EU policies are suitable for scaling up higher blends.

Francesco Corvaro (Special Envoy for Climate Change, Italian Government) opened the second day with a keynote presentation, putting an emphasis on the global dimension of sustainable fuels and a reminder:

“The COP30 in Brazil is a big opportunity for Europe to focus more on sustainable fuels such as biofuels and highlight technology inclusivity. We have very ambitious global climate targets, and biofuels can be a joint ambition of Europe and other developing nations, and we should work towards a closer collaboration in this field.”

As B+ Initiative puts it: “[…] there is an urgent need for an ambitious, technology-neutral approach, that includes the use of high-blends of biodiesel. Thanks to biodiesel, every car, van, truck, plane and ship can immediately contribute to the European decarbonation objectives. […] there is an opportunity [for HDVs] to increase the rate at which biodiesel is replacing fossil diesel.”

Forum Europe is proud to have been able to support the facilitation of meaningful discussions about the future of more sustainable Europe.
