Diversity in Tech - Creating a more diverse and inclusive digital community

For Europe to reach its full potential as a global leader in technology in the digital economy, it must urgently address the digital skills crisis we have faced for the past few years, especially taking into account the current unemployment rates across the continent.  As Vice President Ansip pointed out in a blog post: ‘By 2020, it is estimated that there will be a shortage of more than 800,000 skilled ICT workers. If we are not filling these jobs, then we are losing them - and damaging Europe's competitiveness at the same time’

Now more than ever is a crucial time for policy-makers, national & local governments, educations bodies and the industry to come together to develop long-standing strategies to engage with the most underrepresented groups in tech, in order to attract, retain and progress a more diverse workforce. This inclusive tech workforce will play a central role in driving innovation in the fastest growing sector of our economy.
